We may be small, all 678 of us, but we are a resilient community. Due to our remoteness and past challenges, Sanderson has been through its run of the mill, but we remain to hold strong within our roots and history in hopes of continuing our Texan legacy. We are glad to have you as a visitor!
Sanderson was originally founded by Charlie Wilson as Strobridge. The site served as a division point for the Southern Pacific Railroad, and in 1882 when a roundhouse was built, the name was changed from Strobridge to Sanderson, after Thomas P. Sanderson, the engineer in charge of construction.
